QPS Miami Research Associates Wraps Up an Exciting Year - November, 2013

QPS Miami Research Associates (QPS-MRA), a US-based multi-specialty clinical research facility for Phase I-IV clinical trials, is ending 2013 on a high note. Progress during recent months has meant new and continuing studies, new presentations and publications, and new certifications and training.

Ongoing studies at QPS-MRA include a first-in-human (FIH) trial of a new compound for diabetes, in single and multiple ascending dosages (SAD/MAD) with food effect (FE) components; an FIH trial of flu vaccine with a novel adjuvant; and a sleep trial measuring next day residual effects. A therapeutic for Alzheimer’s, a biologic for hyperlipidemia, and a direct-acting antiviral for Hepatitis C are among other new drugs being tested. In addition, QPS-MRA has been awarded two large biosimilar trials, to begin in future months.

Recent presentations and publications by QPS-MRA clinicians included “Successful Self-Administration Of Methotrexate In Rheumatoid Arthritis Patients Using a Prefilled Auto injector Pen” delivered at the 2013 ACR/ARHP (American College of Rheumatology/Association of Reproductive Health Professionals) annual scientific meeting in October.

QPS-MRA also just renewed its AAHRPP (Association for the Accreditation of Human Research Protection Programs) Accreditation. Furthermore, two more project coordinators passed the ACRP (Association of Clinical Research Professionals) Certification Exam, raising the total number of certified coordinators at QPS-MRA above 40. At the same time, a new video training program has been launched for new hires and to update Standard Operating Procedures and Procedural Competency.

All in all, 2013 was a busy and successful year at QPS MRA. We look forward to further achievements in the year to come. For more information about our facility visit: www.miamiresearch.com
