Preclinical Alzheimer’s Models - Neuroinflammation in APPSL mice

Inflammation of the central nervous system (CNS) is apparent in Alzheimer’s Disease (AD) and might be one of the causative factors for this and other neuro degenerative diseases. Such inflammation is characterized by increased glial activation, pro-inflammatory cytokine concentration, and secondary lesions presumably caused by lipid peroxidation. The APPSL mouse model for AD shows all of these signs of AD pathology.
